Fret-cut Tray.
Fret-cut trays are a step-up from the old fashioned light box signage generally associated with take-away and shop signs. A fret-cut tray at night time gives the effect of individual illuminated letters/logo. Some customers pick this product as a cheaper alternative to individual illuminated built-up 3D letters.
The face design is CNC or laser cut from the trays face and then backed with an opal acrylic which acts as a diffuser for the internal LED illumination.
A fret cut tray can be supplied with a full illuminated back tray with LED’s or can be used to wrap and hide an existing light-box frame.
Built-up illuminated letters.
Built-up 3D letters and logos are a very popular signage solution especially on the high street for bars and restaurants. You also see large versions on stadiums and shopping centres.
They are generally built from steel, aluminium and acrylic and come in different depths. There a many different ways of illuminating these kinds of letters, the more popular specifications are HALO illuminated and face illuminated.
Flex-face Signs.
A very popular sign for retail parks and showrooms. Generally each retailer on a park will have a flex-face as their main sign. The main advantage of a flex-face is that they can be made to very large sizes without any visible joints.
The face of a flex-face sign is made from a printed fabric which is tensioned around the edges to create a completely flat face. The tension system is within the frame of the back box and it is this back box that houses the LED’s to illuminate the face. Depending on the desired effect the entire face of the flex-face can be illuminated or just specific parts of the design.
Trough / Spot Lighting.
A more traditional way of illuminating a sign is by an overhead trough light or spot light. You will see trough lighting above most convenience store signs and more ornate versions above cafe’s and eatery’s. They are also used to illuminate freestanding signs.
This kind of signage can be used to illuminate nearly every type of sign specification and are a far cry from the old inefficient tube lights that used to be used. The modern trough light is made from a lightweight aluminium which can be powder coated to almost any colour. They now also use LED illumination so are much more efficient to run and require very little maintenance.
